Famous American composer Philip Glass has accused a theatre in Russian-annexed Crimea of allegedly planning a premier of a ballet that uses his music without obtaining his permission to use it, according to the Moscow Times.
Glass, 87, took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim it was an act of “piracy” by the Sevastopol Opera and Ballet Theatre : “It has come to my attention that a ballet entitled Wuthering Heights featuring my music and using my name in its advertising and promotion is to premiere”
“The use of my music and the use of my name without my consent… is an act of piracy.”
It is unclear if Glass and the theater are working towards any kind of resolution at this time.
